You know what time it is, y’all! That magical day that comes smack in the middle of February to brighten our bleak winters with the prospects of love and romance (or cheap consumer goods, if you’re a cynic). It’s Valentine’s Day, if you haven’t already caught on, which means plenty of us are planning on going on some sort of date to take advantage of the increased levels of hopeless romance. Are you wondering what you should wear on such a date? Well, that’s why I’m here, isn’t it?

If you’re like me, then you treat every outing as an opportunity to debut a new outfit creation, so I was inspired to create some dazzling outfits with unique vibes that I’ve never worn before. They all have touches of some sweet pinks as an ode to the holiday that has us all swooning for our sweeties.

Check out my outfits below:

Bee Sweet, Bee Kind, Bee Mine

I really wanted to channel a fun, childish spirit with this look. I paired a pink, glittery sweater that features a bee embellishment with a whimsical, full mini skirt for a super fun and playful look. I finished it all off with some slides that feature rhinestone stars over a backdrop of gold and purple bugs, making it the perfect pairing with the bee sweater. And this purse is shaped like a camera- can you get much cuter than that?

Gray Mock Neck Top (Under Sweater) & Heart Choker- Forever21. Glittery Sweater- H&M, Thrifted from Buffalo Exchange. Skirt- Oak & Fort. Shoes- Circus by Sam Edelman. Purse- Betsey Johnson.

Black Is the New Pink

If you’re not really the pretty in pink type, and don’t own many looks that are the frilly, romantic type that Valentine’s Day demands, don’t worry! There are still plenty of cute options that fit perfectly with the spirit of ~love!~ like this little black dress with a trompe l’oeil pink collar and pink and purple cuffs. There is just enough sweetness for it to be the perfect date night look. I paired it with an oversized flower hair clip for a little extra special touch of romance.

Dress- ModCloth. Hair Clip & Boots- Forever21.

Bohemian Glam, Thank You Ma’am

I had so much fun putting this outfit together because I was just like “what else can I add to this to make it just a little more interesting?” First of all, this shimmery, frilly, pink top is such a dream that it makes any outfit a ~look~ and I paired it with some ’70s-inspired wide leg jeans and some platform clogs (both of which are also show-stopping pieces on their own). I accessorized with a crystal headband, a pearly fanny pack and a zig-zaggy Twin Peak’s necklace that my boyfriend gifted to me, making it the perfect accessory for a Valentine’s Day date outfit! All of these over-the-top elements really came together to create a look that totally fits with the fantasy aspects of this lovely, little holiday!

Top- Zara. Wide-Legged Pants- Forever21. Platform Clogs- Derek Lam, Thrifted from Buffalo Exchange. Fanny Pack- Forever21, Thrifted from Buffalo Exchange. Necklace & Headband- ????

I hope these few outfits inspired you to think outside of the box for your next date outfit, whether or not it’s for Valentine’s Day. Have a great holiday and don’t forget to shop all of the sale candy on the day after! And, as always, keep your eyes peeled for my next editorial~~~

Valentine’s Day comes but once a year, and while for some it’s a time for candy and roses and candlelit dinners, for us fashion folks, it’s a great excuse for us to be as extra as we would like and dress like the ingenue in a classic movie or play, whether or not we have a date or party we plan on attending. And while I don’t have anything planned for tomorrow’s romantic festivities, I thought I would do all of you out there with dates a favor by giving you some great inspiration for your outfits, based on some of the couture looks that gave me the strongest Valentine’s Day vibes.

From subtle pinks to ravishing reds, and frilly ruffles to sleek silhouettes, these soft and sweet couture runway looks really awakened my inner hopeless romantic. Check out some of my favorite looks below:

Red Power Suit

Absolutely dominate your date in a crisp, red suit that will make you look like the sultry CEO your mom always wanted you to marry! We especially love any frilly details added in, which will make the look appropriately romantic for Valentine’s Day festivities.

Short, Sweet, Frilly & Unforgettable

Wow your date in an absolutely unforgettable cocktail dress that has all of the frills and embellishments expected of an over-the-top Valentine’s Day look including, but not limited to, ruffles, shimmery beading, floaty tulle, and whimsical crinolines to make the skirt extra full. Bonus points if the dress is so pink it assaults the vision with equal parts delight and alarm!

Giant Bows

Bows happen to be one of the most feminine and charming details you can add to a dress, so I love the idea of including one in a romantic, Valentine’s Day outfit. And imagine how much more whimsical and fantastic your look would be if that bow was an oversized focal point of the whole deal- I love it!, I need, and so do you!

Soft Florals

Florals can definitely make for a great accent to a Valentine’s Day getup because it will channel the romantic vibe of all of the bouquets of soft red and pink petals being handed out to everyone in the name of love. Plus they’re just so girly and cute, so you’ll definitely be feeling yourself in a dress covered in them!

Dramatic, Pink Coat

A statement coat is the perfect piece to spruce up any winter outfit, so why not make it an over-the-top, frilly one to really make your Valentine’s Day outfit stand out? And while both of these beautifully-textured coats are layered over body/swimsuits, we don’t generally recommend this for your casual February look- the coats though- wow!!

Ruffled Layers

In case you couldn’t tell from all of the available examples here, dresses with layered ruffles were ALL OVER the runway this couture season, so you’ll be ahead of the curve if you wear a Valentine’s Day look with this inspiration in mind! I’ve always really loved the look of Victorian-inspired ruffles because there’s just something so dreamy about it- I honestly wish I had somewhere to go just so I can wear something this extra!

Sleek, Monotone Pink

There is something so sleek and modern about these monotone, pink looks that forgo all of the extra bling and embellishments for a more understated style of elegance. The soft, pink colors scream Valentine’s Day and you absolutely can’t go wrong with something so simple, yet sophisticated!

Bridal-Esque White

There is something so pure, innocent, and uniquely appealing about a frothy, floating, sheer veil that covers an equally flowing, white dress. And while it does channel major bridal or angel vibes, I think it creates such a dreamy look that would look breathtaking on a Valentine’s Day date!

Are you ready for all of the Valentine’s Day fun? I just can’t wait to put together a cute look to celebrate! Keep your eyes peeled for my Valentine’s Day editorial that will most likely be dropping sometime today or tomorrow! Happy Valentine’s Day, lovelies!

Sometimes life isn’t as fun as we would like it to be. That’s just a fact that we all have to face on a pretty regular basis. And it seems like more and more, people suffer from bouts of existential dread and depression- both of which I am no stranger to. And while depression is not something that can simply be cured in an instant (can it even be cured?), there are some things that can help to uplift your spirits and make you feel just a little bit better than before. For me, one of those things is a really cute and comfortable dress, which inspired me in this latest editorial shoot.

Each dress I chose in this shoot is cute, vibrant and comfortable, ensuring maximum joy while wearing them. I even paired them with a comfortable pair of sneakers for a more casual, effortless look- because sometimes when you’re feeling down, it can be hard to do the most simple things, even put on fresh clothes and get out the door. So these outfits not only look fashionable and like you ~care~, they’re also super easy to wear!

Check out my looks below:

Short & Sweet

This adorable denim dress is super short and fun! I love the exaggerated shoulders and loose sleeves! I layered it over a happy, yellow, striped mock neck top and paired it with a super-soft, sleeveless sweater for extra comfort. Some fun, floral sneakers finish off the sweet look.

Dress from Zara, Sweater from Lauren Conrad, Mock Neck Top from Forever21 and Sneakers from Adidas.

Layers of Sun

Yellow is definitely one of the happiest colors that manages to lift my mood anytime I wear it, which is why I absolutely adore this long, sunny, yellow dress! It’s a light, linen material making it a great sundress, but I’ve layered a long-sleeved, ruffled top and a vintage, thrifted, satin scarf to bring it into winter. My favorite pair of platform sneakers is the cherry on top!

Dress from Urban Outfitters, Top from H&M, Scarf is vintage thifted, and Platform Sneakers from Converse.

Positively Pastel

I absolutely adore pastels and soft shades, so of course this long, flowing dress with pastel pink stripes would make it into this editorial! I added a bit more detail to the dress with a lacy, collar necklace, while a fuzzy pink sweatshirt and some minty, green New Balances make this look even sweeter (and super cozy!).

Dress is thrifted from Goodwill, Sweatshirt from PacSun, Necklace from Forever21, and Sneakers from New Balance.

I hope I’ve inspired you to find happiness and small moments of joy in even the simplest and littlest details of your day! Stay tuned for more editorials in the near future!

One of my favorite aspects of fashion is the story behind it. After all, it’s a visual art form just like painting or theater. The stories that can be told and the characters created with a simple combination of pieces of clothing is amazing, and it’s so much fun to image who might wear an outfit when I put it together.

The inspiration for this collection of outfits I styled comes from my deep love of sci-fi and dystopian literature. Sometimes we feel like our world is crashing down around us because our lives aren’t going exactly as we planned, which is why it’s fun to escape into universes where the world IS ending, so we don’t feel so bad anymore. Plus, it’s really interesting to see other artists’ and authors’ ideas on what they think the future may have in store.

Check out the outfits I created, which I paired with short stories to get your imagination flowing:

When the World Is Destroyed By 1000 Nuclear Bombs

The world is a wasteland, the air absolutely un-breathable. You walk through the wastes with two outer layers and a scarf to cover the back of your neck so the relentless sun will give your tired skin a break. You don’t have a gun, but your trusty knife always has your back, and a good pair of boots will always take you where you need to go. In the new world, there is no room for luxuries, you take what you need to survive and you do just that.

When You Live In a Perfect World Where Everyone’s the Same

You wake up to the sound of your television screen telling you it is time to do your morning calisthenics. Every morning the same, you take your ration of “vitamins” and wait for the blonde instructor to start her graceful movements. The girl next to you does the same, blonde hair up in a tight bun. The girl next to her is the same. They assign you colors to differentiate you, yours is blush pink. Your necklace keeps track of you and your bracelet bears your name, so you and the other identical girls in your wing can be told apart. You smile until your cheeks hurt, your arms unfurled, ready for the day to begin.

When the World Is No Longer Habitable, So You’re Travelling the Galaxy to Find a New One

They sent five ships out into the abyss, equipped with enough concentrated rations to last the rest of the crews’ lives. Their only objective was to find somewhere else humans may call home, as Earth is quickly becoming desolate. You dress warmly, carry a gun in the rare case you may find intelligent life that isn’t too fond of you. Your only personal possession you allowed yourself was a bracelet your mother gave you before you left and you never take it off, lest you forget about where you came from. Home.

It took me a surprising amount of time to style these looks and create the images, but it was also a lot of fun! I really want to keep creating these unique looks with fun stories, so keep an eye out for the next one!

The White Blouse is one of the most classic wardrobe staple. It’s been around forever, and shows no sign of disappearing anytime soon. To put it simply, it is versatile. The perfect base to build an outfit around. It never offends, matches nearly anything and never fails to elevate an outfit from casual to “they care about how they look.” And it happens to be something I have a bit of an addiction to.

Looking in my current wardrobe, I have 16 white blouses (five of which are thrifted) and I have another one on its way in the mail. I might have a bit of a problem. But honestly, who can blame me? You can never go wrong with a white blouse, so I get a ton of use out of them. Plus, vintage white blouses are any fashion-lover’s dream, so I pick them up anytime I come across a good one.

Below are eight (!) of my favorite white blouses to encourage you to invest in this timeless wardrobe essential:

Pearls & Pastels

This thrifted, vintage blouse features pale, pastel floral embroidery on the chest and a lacy collar embellished with pearls and more gorgeous embroidery. I got this one at Savers for probably $5 or $6- THRIFT YOU GUYS. YOU WILL FIND SO MUCH GOOD STUFF.

Whimsical Collar

One of the newest additions to my white blouse obsession- I mean collection, I fell in love with the ornate, frilly collar. It’s so whimsical and fun! Any outfit that would have looked drab with a regular white blouse is instantly made a ton more memorable and even though it’s a statement piece, it still goes with everything!

Fun Floral Details

Another thrifted gem, I had to repair this vintage beauty by replacing a missing button (seriously- don’t let the fear of a little needed repair stop you from getting that dream thrifted piece!). The addition of the floral, cutout panels around the collar and over the shoulders just adds so much style to an otherwise-boring white blouse!

Frills and Chills

You might recognize this top from my “Dreamy Dolly” Halloween look that I recently posted- and what can I say? This sheer, frilly Forever 21 top makes an excellent layering piece and adds so much drama because of its high collar and bleated, bell sleeves. Wearing this shirt under a dress instantly adds so much interest, I will probably hold onto it forever!

Girly Gingham

While this blouse isn’t exclusively white, I thoought it still deserved a spot on the list because LOOK AT HOW DARN CUTE IT IS! I first picked this up in the thrift store to have a good laugh at how old-ladyish it was, but then it smacked me in the head with all of its adorable charm. Gingham hearts and all-over looping embroidery?  Come on, you can’t get more innocent and playful than that!

Layers of Drama

When I ordered this shirt from Nastygal, I honestly didn’t think I would like it as much as I do, but I DO. The pleated layers make for such a fun, textured look and are so voluminous, so this shirt is definitely a statement piece that dresses up any outfit. I even pair it with slacks for a fun workday look!

A Schoolgirl Fantasy

This incredible blous is YET ANOTHER vintage, thrifted piece. And these types of finds are why I thrift in the first place! I love the bib-like, square collar with lacy, embroidered edges. It gives me major schoolgirl vibes and feels so dreamy and sailor-esque! Plus the sleeves are loose around the arm for a little flow!

Elegant Eyelet

Trying to escape the wrath of the sun on blue eyes.

This last blouse was a gift from my mom from Loft, which shows how well she knows me! Not only is it sleeveless, which is pretty much my favorite type of sleeve, it also features some eyelet frills over the shoulder, which add so much charm and girlishness to any look! And, if you have a dress with spaghetti straps, it makes an excellent layering piece!

At the end of the day, the white blouse is what you make it. It can be the building block of a good outfit as a simple layering piece, or it can make a statement with its vintage charm, or over-the-top details. There are no rules, and there are no ways to style it wrong. So go nuts and find some that you truly love!
